2012 and the year to hustle.

I need to hustle more. That’s just the truth.

2011 was a good year overall. I was excited to start 2 new companies including www.biti.me, and www.skipagency.com.
Biti.me was created to only focus on wordpress coding. I wanted to target designers, bloggers, and companies that needed wordpress coding for their already developed designs. In the meantime I wanted Skip Agency to be the parent company, that would handle anything online: SEO, Email Campaigns, Design, Development, etc..

My wife and I also launched www.sweetandsaucypops.com at the end of this year. And although it hasn’t had too many orders yet, I feel that it has a lot of potential for growth this year. However our website www.sweetandsaucysupply.com has continued to sell cake plates on a daily and weekly basis.

This brings me to 2012. What do I want to do this year? I am debating this all of the time. Do I want to stick to creating websites for other peoples dreams? Or should I stop, and build more online retail businesses? As I sit here pondering what I want to do, I realize that in everything, I want to be better then 2011. Better at business. Better at returning emails, better at meeting deadlines, smarter when it comes to coding. I’ve learned a lot in 2011, but I’ve realized that its now time to stop drifting, and to start sailing.

So here is 2012, the year I actually try to blog on a weekly basis, the year that I work harder then any year before. It’s hustle time.

FOWA Vegas 2011 – (Future of Web Apps)

FOWA Las Vegas is now complete! Here are some of my overall thoughts.
First I must say all of the speakers were exceptional. But I really did enjoy Gary Vaynerchuk’s keynote. It was very motivational to hear him talk about business, and how he views it. Even though he did not come from the tech world, his ideas and inspirations are invaluable.

Overall I must say if nothing else it gave me that spark or kick in the butt that even got me to finally blog again. I’m excited for the coming 3 years of the online industries. They are defiantly some big universal changes that are coming. And once all these new apps come out and sync together the world will never be the same.

Takeaways:
• Work is work. It doesn’t matter what industry you are in.
• Business is business.
• Work as hard as you can and good things will come from it.
• The next 3 years are looking like gold for start-ups.

Out with the Old, In with the New

So as a search engine optimizer I just did something that is usually against the rules.  I deleted all my content that I had on this wordpress site for the past 3 years.  First though I did export them so that they won’t be permanently lost.  But as I was looking over this stale website, I began to realize that it was time to get rid of all my “before now” posts and start fresh.  Sometimes as coders the best thing is to do just that. Start fresh. Fresh as in before everything has gone down the wrong path for too long.  To delete the stuff that was too complex to begin with. To simplify.  So here I am.  A blank slate,  a new website design, and with big plans to actually start blogging.

So Everyone I want you to welcome the new Tim.  The refreshed Tim. Since this will now be the first post on timbrandon.com I guess I should introduce myself.

Who & What

Tim Brandon | Coder, Caffieneoholic, Late Night Zombie, Adventurer, Developer, Entrepreneur, Husband, Uncle, Friend, and then some.

Professional Life:

I am a primarily a WordPress theme developer.  I code wordpress themes for businesses, clients, and for my own side projects.  I enjoy site optimization, as well as search engine optimization.  I am always striving to find ways to make money online.  Although money is not the reason for the striving.  It’s mostly because I find the world wide web fascinating, intriguing, new, wild, and exciting.

Personal Life

I live in Santa Ana with my wonderful wife Melody.  Melody is a professional wedding cake designer and together we own Sweet and Saucy Shop. (although, cake, and sugar scares me, so I mostly focus on the online marketing, and search engine optimization for our three websites. www.sweetandsaucyshop.com, www.mysweetandsaucy.com, www.sweetandsaucysupply.com)

Hobbies

I use to tell everyone I was a surfer.  Until I realized that it had been over a year since I actually surfed.  I love things like sailing and getting out doors.  But these days these are rare occasions.  I do love Traveling.  And If I could do anything I would do that for a living, if it were possible.  Lately I find that I love to enjoy new experiences, trying new foods, or exploring places in California I have never been to.

Well now you hopefully have an idea of who I am and what I am about. I am always interested in connecting with web designers, new clients, and old friends.  Feel free to email me at anytime for any reason.  tim@timbrandon.com Cheers.
